Frequently Asked Questions
We're so glad you're curious! Here are some quick answers to the things we get asked most.
What is beef tallow, and why do you use it?
Beef tallow is a nutrient-dense fat rendered from grass-fed cattle. It's packed with vitamins A, D, E, and K. All of which support skin health and repair. It closely mimics our skin's natural oils, so it absorbs easily and deeply nourishes without clogging pores.
Does it smell like meat?
Not at all! High-quality, properly rendered tallow has a very mild, clean scent. When blended with essential oils like vanilla or frankincense, it smells warm, earthy, and subtle.
Is it safe for sensitive skin or babies?
Yes! Our tallow lotions are made with minimal, natural ingredients - no preservatives, no synthetics, and no harsh fragrances. Our product is gentle enough for baby bellies, postpartum skin, and anyone with sensitivities. Always patch test first, just to be safe!
What makes Wild & West Tallow Co. different from other "natural" skincare brands?
Great question! The term “natural” isn’t always as clear as it sounds—many big brands use it even when their products still contain preservatives, synthetic fragrances, or other not-so-skin-loving ingredients.
At Wild & West Tallow Co., we keep things truly simple and clean. Our whipped tallow is made from only whole, recognizable ingredients—like grass-fed beef tallow, organic oils, and therapeutic-grade essential oils (if any). Nothing you can’t pronounce, and absolutely no fillers, chemicals, or hidden junk.
It’s the kind of skincare we feel good using on ourselves, our babies, and our families—and that’s the standard we stick to.
Are there hidden ingredients in other "natural" products?
How do I use it?
Scoop a small amount and massage into clean, dry skin. A little goes a long way. Use it anywhere - hands, face, belly, baby, even minor scrapes or dry patches.
Does it feel greasy?
It's richer than a water-based lotion, but tallow absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a heavy residue. Let it soak in for a few minutes, your skin will drink it up!
How should I store it?
Keep you jar in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. If it melts (like during summer shipping) just pop it in the fridge - it's still totally safe to use!
What is the shelf life?
About 6-12 months if stored properly. We don't use preservatives, so keep it clean (no wet fingers in the jar) to extend freshness.
Do you offer local pickup or wholesale?
We're working on it! If you're local or a shop owner interested in carrying our tallow, send us a message at wildandwesttallow@gmail.com.
